Winning and LOSING...part II

This one is truly about "Losing"...

Saturday, on the way to Anica's 25th Birthday Pot Luck, Chip and I hop on the 22-Fillmore bus and head down toward the Mission District.

About 3/4 of the way there, we get stuck in traffic. Odd...there's rarely traffic back ups. Things tend to run pretty smoothly amongst city streets.

I peek my head up above my seat and see a couple of ambulances, and a line of cars and another 22-Fillmore that was sitting in the middle of the intersection on 16th and S. Van Ness area. The driver instructed all of us to deboard the bus. Chip and I get off and begin walking toward the destination (Alabama St.) and we walk by it...

Then...there it was. A man laying in the street, strapped to a gurney with EMS people all around him...and Chip said, "Oh wow. Look at the windshield."

And I looked at the bus. A huge spider crack...obviously a head-on collision....and I looked down at the man and saw his head - and I'll tell you....if you've never seen what it looks like for a person to get hit by a bus in the face...don't bother. It's not an image you'll easily get rid of....

I guess the moral here is that you win some and lose some.

Man vs. Bus:

Bus = win some.
Man = lose some.
